C-parts are the low value, high nuisance items on a bill of materials: fasteners, washers, clips, inserts and hardware. A small share of spend and a large share of the purchase orders, the expediting and the line stoppages. C-parts management removes that disproportion.

Buyer time spent on the cheapest items on the BOM.
One item bought under three numbers at three plants.
Freight and overtime paid to recover from pennies.
Certification chased after the part has landed.
The cost of a C-part is almost never the piece price. These are the five places the money actually goes, and not one of them appears on the invoice for the part.
Hundreds of low value part numbers each generating a requisition, order, receipt, inspection and invoice, at a cost per transaction that ignores what the part is worth.
CSG response · Consolidation onto one supplier, one delivery, one invoice
The same item bought under different numbers from different suppliers at different plants, so volume is fragmented and nobody can see the total spend.
CSG response · Duplicate numbers identified, rationalised and aggregated
Freight and overtime paid repeatedly to recover from shortages on parts worth pennies, because the alternative is a stopped line.
CSG response · Availability engineered in rather than recovered after the fact
Certification chased after delivery on parts destined for regulated builds, with the paperwork arriving separately from the part it belongs to.
CSG response · ISO 9001:2015, AS9120 Rev B and IATF 16949 carried throughout
Design engineers resolving fastener selection and joint problems that a specialist would close in a fraction of the time.
CSG response · Design assist on the joint, not just supply of the part
A programme combines what your situation needs. Most customers run managed replenishment across a consolidated range, with kitting where a build calls for it.
Replenishment and ownership
Handled for you, end to end.
Ready for the line
Parts arrive in the state the build needs.
When price is not the answer
The part itself may be wrong.
CSG is an engineered solutions partner, not a commodity distributor. Founded in 1997 in Dayton, Ohio and part of the Bufab Group, with access to a network of 1,600+ suppliers across 30+ countries.
Design assist on the joint itself, not just supply of a part someone already specified. Where the right answer is a different fastener, we say so before it reaches the line.
The Bufab Group network of 1,600+ suppliers across 30+ countries, alongside CSG’s own 200+ global suppliers and 200+ containers moved a year.
ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 Rev B certified, IATF 16949 with full PPAP for automotive, plus ITAR, FAA AC 00-56D, DLA Qualified Supplier and JCP. EcoVadis-rated for sustainability.
The piece price is rarely the cost. We work on transactions, handling, stock held and the shortages that stop a line, which is where C-parts actually spend money.

The transaction cost of a C-part is roughly fixed regardless of what the part is worth. That is why a box of washers can cost more to buy than it does to own.
Consolidation attacks the count of transactions rather than the price of the part. Fewer suppliers, fewer orders, fewer receipts, fewer invoices, and the volume that remains is finally large enough to be worth negotiating.
Most multi-plant operations cannot answer what they spend on fasteners, because the same item sits under different numbers against different suppliers at each site.
The first phase of a programme is a survey that resolves those duplicates into one view. Customers frequently tell us that view is the most useful thing they get, before any supply has changed at all.
A fastener problem found at build is expensive in a way the part price never reflects: rework, scrap, line time, and in the worst case a warranty claim.
Sort and containment handles the immediate exposure. Design assist handles the cause, where the right answer is a change to the joint rather than a tighter inspection on the part.
Single-sourced commodity lines are the quiet risk in a C-parts range. They are too cheap to attract attention until the day they are unavailable.
Global sourcing through the Bufab network gives an alternative route where cost, capacity or availability needs one. CSG works with 200+ global suppliers and moves 200+ containers a year.
A programme is scoped on your numbers, never on a template.
Part numbers, annual usage, plants involved and the current supplier spread.
Duplicates resolved, slow movers flagged, consolidation candidates agreed.
Supply moved across in a controlled sequence with no gap on the line.
Fill rate, order accuracy and consumption reviewed against the agreement.

C-parts management is usually delivered through one of these programmes:

The questions buyers and engineers ask before a programme starts.
The low value, high frequency items on a bill of materials: fasteners, washers, clips, inserts, pins and hardware. The defining feature is not what they are but how they behave, a small share of spend and a large share of the transactions.
No. It suits any manufacturer where the administrative load of small parts is out of proportion to their value. Multi-plant operations and high mix builds usually see the clearest return, because that is where duplication hides.
No, and we would not recommend it. Programmes normally begin with one family or one site, prove the mechanics, and widen from there.
Consolidating spend is only the first step. A programme also takes on the replenishment, the stocking decision, the presentation at the line and the documentation. CSG is ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 Rev B certified and part of the Bufab Group supplier network.
No. Specifications stay yours. Where we believe a different part would perform better or cost less to own, that is raised as a recommendation through design assist. It is never changed without your approval.
Yes. The automotive division is IATF 16949 certified with full PPAP capability, supplying both standard and made-to-print fasteners to automotive OEMs and Tier 1.
Aerospace distribution is handled under AS9120 Rev B. CSG also holds ITAR, FAA AC 00-56D, DLA Qualified Supplier and JCP certification.
Because usage history is held centrally, a part approaching end of life is visible before the change is released. Stock is run down deliberately rather than written off, and an alternative is qualified in advance where one is needed.
Either. VMI covers who does the replenishment work; consignment covers who owns the stock until it is consumed. Many programmes use both.
It is run in rather than displaced. The sequence is built so existing stock is consumed alongside the new supply, which is also what removes the risk of a gap on the line.
Yes. CSG distributes BUMAX stainless, Böllhoff joining systems, Southco, Sherex, HellermannTyton, River King and ITW Nexus alongside standard and made-to-print fasteners.
Aerospace and aviation, automotive, heavy equipment, marine, energy and utilities, construction, medical devices, military and defence, renewable energy, telecom, HVAC, electronics and EV.
The survey. Customers frequently tell us the consolidated cross-site part view is worth having on its own, before any supply decision is taken.
CSG is an authorised distributor for the ranges OEMs specify by name, alongside standard and made-to-print fasteners.
Transactions, handling, stock held and shortages are where C-parts spend money. A programme works on all four at once rather than on the piece price alone.
Tell us the part numbers, the annual volumes and the plants involved, and we will come back with a proposed programme.
