Solutions
CSG is an engineered solutions partner, not a commodity distributor. These programmes exist because the lowest value items on a bill of materials carry a disproportionate share of the administrative load and the line risk, and buying them cheaper changes neither.
Order accuracy
Global operations
Containers a year
Bufab network suppliers
Duty exposure moving faster than a contract review.
Allocation with no qualified second source.
A line down for the cheapest part on the BOM.
The wrong fastener fitted, then fitted again.
Five problems bring customers to us. They are versions of the same thing: the parts that matter least per piece are the ones least likely to be actively managed.
A fastener worth pennies stops a line worth thousands an hour, because nothing in the planning system was watching it closely enough to escalate in time.
CSG response · Managed replenishment on a fixed cycle, sized to real lead time
Hundreds of small part numbers generating the majority of the purchase orders, receipts and invoices while representing a fraction of the spend.
CSG response · Consolidation onto one supplier, one delivery, one invoice
Cover against long lead times ties up cash for months against parts that individually cost very little.
CSG response · Consignment, so availability no longer requires ownership
Single-sourced commodity lines that attract no attention until the day they are on allocation or caught by a tariff change.
CSG response · Global sourcing across the Bufab network of 1,600+ suppliers
Recurring rework, loosening or assembly difficulty that no amount of better purchasing will fix, because the specified fastener is the wrong one.
CSG response · Design assist engineering on the joint, not just on the part
Most customers run managed replenishment across a consolidated range, with kitting where a build calls for it and design assist where the joint is the real problem.
We own keeping parts there
Replenishment stops being your job.
Ready for the line
Parts arrive in the state the build needs.
When price is not the answer
Sometimes the part is wrong.
CSG is an engineered solutions partner, not a commodity distributor. Founded in 1997 in Dayton, Ohio and part of the Bufab Group, with access to a network of 1,600+ suppliers across 30+ countries.
Design assist on the joint itself, not just supply of a part someone already specified. Where the right answer is a different fastener, we say so before it reaches the line.
The Bufab Group network of 1,600+ suppliers across 30+ countries, alongside CSG’s own 200+ global suppliers and 200+ containers moved a year.
ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 Rev B certified, IATF 16949 with full PPAP for automotive, plus ITAR, FAA AC 00-56D, DLA Qualified Supplier and JCP. EcoVadis-rated for sustainability.
The piece price is rarely the cost. We work on transactions, handling, stock held and the shortages that stop a line, which is where C-parts actually spend money.
CSG’s own published figures, not projections for your programme.
Measured across CSG operations, not a target.
Cover across time zones, not a single desk.
Physical scale behind the replenishment commitment.

They are frequently confused because they often run together, but they answer different questions. VMI is about who does the work of replenishment. Consignment is about who owns the stock until it is used.
If your problem is buyer time and shortages, start with VMI. If your problem is capital tied up in cover, start with consignment. If it is both, run both, which is the common case.
Supplier consolidation gets postponed because doing it all at once puts every part number on a single change. That risk is real, and it is avoidable.
Every programme starts narrow: one family, one line or one cell, run in alongside existing stock, and measured against the agreed levels from the first cycle before anything widens.
On aerospace, defence and automotive work the documentation is part of the part. A programme that delivers the right item without its traceability has not delivered it.
CSG holds ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 Rev B, IATF 16949 with full PPAP through the automotive division, plus ITAR, FAA AC 00-56D, DLA Qualified Supplier and JCP.
Not every operation needs one. If the administrative load of small parts is already proportionate to their value, a programme adds process without adding value.
The survey comes before any commitment precisely so that decision is made on your numbers. If the answer is that you do not need one, that is a useful answer and we will say it.
The same four phases whichever programme you start with.
Part numbers, usage, suppliers, lead times and the shortage history behind them.
What sits where, at what level, on what cycle, and what consolidates.
Installed and run in alongside existing stock, with no supply gap.
Levels tuned on real consumption, reported against the agreement.

The questions buyers and engineers ask before a programme starts.
It depends on the problem. Buyer time and shortages point to VMI; capital tied up in cover points to consignment; duplication across plants points to C-parts management. Most end up combining them.
No. Every programme starts with a defined family at one line or one cell, proves the mechanics, and widens from there.
No, and the distinction matters. CSG provides design assist engineering, managed supply programmes and technical consultation. Where the right answer is to change the fastener rather than buy it better, we will say so.
ISO 9001:2015 and AS9120 Rev B, IATF 16949 for automotive with full PPAP capability, plus ITAR, FAA AC 00-56D, DLA Qualified Supplier and JCP. CSG is also EcoVadis-rated for sustainability.
The test is not size. It is whether the administrative load of small parts is out of proportion to their value. A single plant raising hundreds of low value orders a year has the profile.

Yes, and multi-site is usually where consolidation pays best, because the same part is often bought under different numbers from different suppliers at each location.
Yes. BUMAX stainless, Böllhoff joining systems, Southco, Sherex, HellermannTyton, River King and ITW Nexus, alongside standard and made-to-print fasteners.
Aerospace and aviation, automotive, heavy equipment, marine, energy and utilities, construction, medical devices, military and defence, renewable energy, telecom, HVAC, electronics and EV.
Yes. The survey comes before any commitment precisely so that decision is made on your numbers. If the administrative load does not justify a programme, that is a useful answer.
It is set by scope rather than a standard timetable, which is what the survey and design phases establish. A single family at one cell and a multi-site consolidation are not the same piece of work.
CSG was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, operating as part of the Bufab Group with 24/7 global operations.
An assessment. We walk one line or one cell with you, look at what is actually consumed, and show you what a programme would cover before anything is committed.
CSG is an authorised distributor for the ranges OEMs specify by name, alongside standard and made-to-print fasteners.
That is the whole argument. The piece price is the smallest number in the equation, and it is the only one most purchasing processes are set up to see.
Tell us the part numbers, the annual volumes and the plants involved, and we will come back with a proposed programme and a quotation.
