Overview
Blue Grass Manufacturing is part of the Component Solutions Group family of businesses and is a leading provider of high-quality, OE engineered components manufactured in the USA. As we expand our business, we are seeking a an experienced, hands-on, dynamic, self-starting individual for our operation in Lexington, KY.
By leveraging site resources and our internal & external team, this role leads and implements everything on the machining side of our business, including engineering from conception to completion, quoting, developing, and all CNC manufacturing processes, etc. Other areas of responsibility include developing and reviewing procedures, specifications, design calculation/simulation and projects that improve asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs and foster continuous improvements.
This position will run and lead all APQP and product launch programs and have approximately 15 direct reports, this includes various departments, engineering, quality, maintenance, material planning, production machinists and general operators.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to launch new programs, maintain existing programs and get parts out the door. Ownership of all engineering & machining processes and personnel, production scheduling, material planning, quality and plant maintenance.

Assist and help develop new manufacturing processes, needed methods, talent, equipment, etc. that further optimize production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and overall quality performance.

Ensuring processes comply with safety, design and quality standards.

Provides leadership by managing the Process Design & Engineering Team, including performing process simulations, design calculations, process optimization, sizing & selection of equipment etc. Review documents, specifications, datasheets, installation, start-up and validation of new process equipment and technologies.

Process, assist and maintain incoming quotes, appropriately assigns them to the correct party, and ensures accurate and timely delivery of such.

Develop, implement and sustain reliable best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs. Work closely with engineers/production, quality staff to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and the overall safety of the plant.

Optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including Safety, Environmental, and Quality critical process control.

Perform risk assessments and lead/participate in root cause analysis (RCA). Assist in identifying root cause(s) and ensure the proper implementation of the necessary corrective actions to prevent said recurrence.

Responsible for maintaining the appropriate talent (in connection with HR), and establishing all shift production schedules.

Development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance.

Support manufacturing and maintenance efforts as needed by the operation.

This role will have approximately 15 direct reports in which they will mentor and support while building out the manufacturing team.

The position will ensure the manufacturing engineering team works cohesively with other departments.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree; BS or advanced education in mechanical engineering preferred. Significant CNC machining experience is required, mills, lathes, and other capabilities.

Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment, in an engineering capacity involving process development.

Minimum 3 years-experience in a management position.

Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems specifically Fusion 360, AutoCAD.

Experience with CNC maintenance.
-
Experience with g-code programming, and the ability to program with CAD systems.

Experience with Okuma, Haas, and other Fanuc controls of all ages.

Experience with various lab equipment is a plus.
-
Swiss screw and or multi spindle machining experience is a plus.

Continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma green belt or black belt will be a plus.

Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be detail oriented, and flexible to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Robotics / automation experience is a plus.

ISO, TS or other certification experience is a plus.
