Overview

Blue Grass Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Component Solutions Group, is a leading provider of high-quality, engineered products manufactured in the USA.  BGM is seeking a Quality Engineer at our Lexington, KY facility. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems and standards, based on facility’s quality management program, to ensure customer satisfaction through the production of products that consistently meet our customers’ needs and design standards.

  • Examine and inspect material, including identification of non-conforming products.

  • Document and communicate corrective actions to improve internal quality as well as customer satisfaction.

  • Track and monitor customer complaints, investigate root cause & resolve using 8D process.

  • Advise operations on the plant floor in conjunction with the quality program and implement the program’s effectiveness daily.

  • Advocate for continuous improvement within all onsite manufacturing processes.

  • Communicate with Plant manager on plant issues, problems, planning, updates and quality equipment maintenance etc.

  • Assist and maintain the plant 5S program for effectiveness and consistency.

  • Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) per plan.

  • Control of company’s calibration records for inspection equipment.

  • Participates in, and provides training as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Corporate Quality Manager.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites, as necessary.

  • Understanding of machining and its principles, including CNC equipment.

  • Working knowledge of AIAG Level III PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, APQP, MSA.

  • Automotive Tier I or II experience is a plus.

  • Skills in reading and understanding industry standards and specifications.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret part drawings both in English and Metric.

  • Perform 1st Article Inspections, proficient with gages, tools and precision equipment.

  • Experience in a variety of basic Engineering principles and quality assurance.

  • Understanding of ISO/IATF compliancy and OSHA regulations and requirements.

  • Experience with production processes, quality controls and other techniques for the effective manufacture and processing of goods.

  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams.

  • Possess attributes for analytical, problem solving, responsibility, flexibility and sound judgment skills.

  • Positive attitude towards health and safety regulations.

  • Regular, skilled use of Microsoft programs and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Associates degree minimum in Engineering or equivalent in technical field.

  • 3-5 years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an ISO/TS or AS/Quality System.

  • Working 5S/6 Sigma knowledge.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification is a plus.
