Blue Grass Manufacturing is a subsidiary of Component Solutions Group and is a leading provider of high-quality, engineered products manufactured in the USA. As we expand our engineering department, we are seeking an experienced, hands-on, dynamic, self-starting Engineering Supervisor for our Lexington, KY operation. 

 

The Engineering Supervisor for Blue Grass Manufacturing leads and implements engineering projects from conception to completion by leveraging site resources and external engineering firms. The engineering supervisor will be responsible for quoting, developing, and implementing CNC machining, assembly, and welding projects.  Develops and reviews procedures, specifications, design calculation/simulation and projects to improve asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs and foster continuous improvements. Optimization of Preventive/Predictive Maintenance programs, identification and correction of existing maintenance issues.

  • Provides project ownership to core manufacturing processes, further develops process methods, equipment, to optimize production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and quality performance.

  • Develop new manufacturing processes for both CNC machining, welding, and assembly.

  • Develops yearly budget for equipment, and all other manufacturing needs.  

  • Ensuring processes comply with safety, design and quality standards and leads troubleshooting issues.

  • Schedule engineering and prototype/new part development resources as needed. 

  • Provides leadership by managing the Process Design & Engineering Team, including performing process simulations, design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of equipment etc. Review documents, specifications, datasheets, installation, start-up and validation of new process equipment and technologies.

  • Implements and maintains appropriate engineering records consistent with ISO regulations for production. Develops plans for the installation, movement, repair of equipment and utilities within the building.

  • Oversee incoming quotes for all departments.  Assign quotes to the correct party, and follow up on the status of the quote.

  • Review all quotes for accuracy, and approve all quotes before sending to the customer

  • Develop, implement and sustain reliable best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs. Work closely with engineers/production, quality staff to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of the plant

  • Optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs, including Safety, Environmental, and Quality critical process control.

  • Perform risk assessments and lead/participate in root cause analysis (RCA). Identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.

  • Development and utilization of key reliability metrics to consistently measure performance.

  •  

  • Provide long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs, including capital and major repairs. Support manufacturing and maintenance efforts as needed by the operation.

  •  

  • This position will have 3-4 direct reports that they will  mentor and support while ensuring the engineering team works cohesively with other departments while supervising the team in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree; BS or advanced education in mechanical, or industrial engineering preferred.  CNC machining experience is required. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment, in an engineering capacity involving process development.

  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems specifically Fusion 360, AutoCAD.

  • Experience with CNC maintenance.

  • Experience with g-code programming, and the ability to program at with a CAD system.   

  • Experience with Okuma, Haas, and other Fanuc controls of all ages. 

  • Swiss Machine experience is a plus.

  • Continuous improvement, Lean Six Sigma green belt or black belt will be a plus.

  • Must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be detail oriented, and flexible to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
