Component Solutions Group, Inc. is a leading provider of high-quality, engineered fasteners and other related products manufactured in the US and around the world.  CSG is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer that is willing to take on the task and challenge of building out a Centralized Quality Dept. / Lab for our group as a whole. This position will be located at our Lexington, KY facility and report daily to our Corporate Quality Manager. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems and standards, based on our company’s quality management program, and ensure customer satisfaction through the production of products that consistently meet their needs and design standards. This position currently has one direct report and two other dept. support roles that further help get the job done.

  • Establishing, developing and implementing processes and controls that both improve overall quality and Customer Satisfaction.

  • Document and communicate corrective actions both internally and externally, directly to the customer.

  • Track and monitor customer complaints, investigate root cause & resolve using the 8D process.

  • Advocate for continuous improvement within our facilities and all supplier manufacturing processes.

  • Communicate with Management on material issues, problems, planning and updates.

  • Perform Audits of vendors in the US and assist as necessary in Taiwan (company has an SQE on the ground in Asia).

  • Participates in, and provides training as required.

  • Other duties as assigned by Management and or the Corporate Quality Manager.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer and vendor sites, as necessary.

  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and principals, specific knowledge of cold forming fasteners and other related processes is a requirement.

  • Working knowledge of AIAG Level III PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, APQP, MSA.

  • Experience with various Lab Eq. and other testing tools.

  • Automotive Tier I or II experience is a requirement.  

  • Skills in reading, documenting and understanding industry standards and specifications.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret part drawings both in English and Metric.

  • Experience in a variety of basic Engineering principles and quality assurance.

  • Understanding of ISO/IATF compliancy and OSHA regulations and requirements, AS9100 or 9120 experience is a plus.

  • Experience with production processes, quality controls and other techniques for the effective manufacture and processing of goods.

  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams.

  • Possess attributes for analytical, problem solving, responsibility, flexibility and sound judgment skills.

  • Positive attitude towards health and safety regulations.

  • Regular, skilled use of Microsoft programs and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Efficiency in CAD, Fusion 360 or other similar design programs a plus.

  • Previous metalworking or other automotive experience is a plus.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but will review other Engineering Degrees or equivalent in technical field.

  • 5+ years of previous work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an ISO/TS or AS/Quality System.

  • Working 5S/6 Sigma knowledge.

  • Proficient knowledge of 8D, PPAP, CARS required.

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification is a plus.
